LEGO Zero’s Quest

BACKGROUND

Can our game make a serious subject fun?

Zero’s Quest is packed with digital citizenship lessons. But LEGO didn’t want the game weighed down by learning. It had to be fun first. We fed into the game’s development from start to finish, bringing a kid’s eye view to keep the learning relevant, relatable, and entertaining.

LEGO successfully launched Zero’s Quest in November 2023. The game was shortlisted for the prestigious Kidscreen Award in the category “Best Learning App – Branded” in 2024.

We made sure everyone kept a kid’s eye view

LEGO collaborated with a third-party game developer to create Zero’s Quest. They brought us on as experts in healthy game design. It was a good move – great game developers don’t always understand kids.

While LEGO advocated for the brand and the developers focused on fun, we kept a kid’s eye view. That's how we helped make learning messages relevant, relatable, and entertaining.

We collaborated hands-on from the initial brief to the final delivery. We reviewed concepts, fed back on alpha and beta versions, flagged concerns, and recommended changes. We also explained our reasoning to empower the developers to make kid-friendly decisions every step of the way.
